My Favourite CHILI Recipe
In a saucepan cook until evenly browned: 1 lbs ground beef, regular or lean Drain off fat. Pouring boiling water over meat will increase fat removeal. Add: - 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium green pepper, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Stir in: - 1 can stewed tomatoes
- 1 can (15½ oz) kidney beans, drained
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1½ to 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon oregano
Bring to boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour. Variations: - Instead of kidney beans, try pinto beans or six-bean blend.
- Substitue celery for green peppers.
- Add bay leaf,(remember to remove before serving)
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes are optional
- Use seasoned salt in place of regular salt.
- Ground turkey breast can be used in place of ground beef. Add more beans and the fat content is decreased even further.
White Chili - Chili made with turkey, chicken or pork instead of ground beef.
