Black Forest Brownies

chocolate brownie Brownies are always a favorite and these Black Forest Brownies are sure to be a hit. A combination of cream cheese, chocolate and cherry always creates an appealing flavour.  Make them for your Valentine's sweetheart.

A take-out pot-luck dessert idea--it transports well.
Also can be added to the plate of cookies and dainties for a buffet meal.





Black Forest Brownies

1 (3 oz.) pkg.   cream cheese, softened                84   grams
1 tablespoon     milk                                              15    ml
1/3 cup             icing sugar                                   85    ml
1/3 cups           flour                                              85    ml
1¼ cups           sugar                                          310    ml
½ cup              vegetable oil                                125    ml
¼ cup              cocoa                                            60    ml
2 teaspoons      vanilla                                          10    ml
¼ teaspoon      salt                                                 1.5 ml
3 eggs
1 (19 oz.) can cherry pie filling                             532   ml
2 squares semi-sweet chocolate                             56   grams

Preheat oven at 350º F./175ºC.
Grease 9 x 13 inch (20 x 33 x 4-cm)pan.
In small bowl, with mixer at low speed, beat cream cheese
and milk just smooth.
Gradually beat in icing sugar until blended.
Set aside.
Into large bowl, measure flour, sugar, oil, cocoa, vanilla, salt and eggs. With spoon, mix ingredients until just blended. Spread brownie batter evenly in pan. Drop heaping teaspoons of cream cheese mixture on top of brownie batter. Swirl mixtures together to create a marble design.
Bake brownies 20 minutes.
Remove from oven, and spread cherry pie filling over brownies.
Return to oven and bake 10 minutes longer. Cool brownies in pan on a wire rack. Melt chocolate over low heat or in microwave until smooth.
Drizzle over cherry pie filling. Refrigerate until it is set.
