Glazed Chicken Wings

Glazed, marinated or dipped in a batter and fried.
Glazed Chicken Drummettes with Marinade- 3 lb. chicken drummettes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ¼ cup liquid honey
- ½ teaspoon ginger
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Mix ingredients and pour over chicken drummettes. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour; turning and basting drummettes often. Preheat oven to 350º F. Spray a cookie sheet with no-stick spray or line with tin-foil. Drain chicken (reserving marinade) and place on prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 30 minutes Brush drummettes with reserved marinade often while cooking and turn chicken over each time you baste.
Continue baking for 30 minutes or until tender and well browned. Japanese Chicken Wings with Sweet n" Sour Sauce
- 3 lb. chicken Drummettes
- ½ cup margarine or butter
- 1 cup flour
- 1 beaten egg
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon seasoned salt
- ¾ cup fine dry bread crumbs
Sauce:- ½ cup soy sauce or tamari sauce
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ cup vinegar
- dash of hot-pepper sauce
On a piece of wax paper, combine the flour, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika and flavored salt. Roll the chicken in the flour mixture, then dip into the beaten egg. Finally, roll the pieces in the bread crumbs. In a large 9 x 13 inch baking dish, melt the margarine and put chicken wings in and turn each piece over to coat with margarine. Bake at 350º F. for 45 minutes, turning each wing at halftime.Calorie-Counter Tip: Reduce sugar to 1/3 and eliminate vinegar Use egg white in place of whole egg Bake without rolling in margarine first. Glazed Chicken Wings with marmalade Sauce- 2 lb. chicken drummettes
- 1 cup flour
- 4 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder or curry powder
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ¼ cup butter or margarine
- ¾ cup orange marmalade
- ¾ cup water
Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease a shallow baking dish. Combine flour, paprika, salt, pepper and chili powder. Drop drummettes in flour mixture and coat them. Heat butter or margarine in frypan until foamy. Brown chicken wings until golden and arrange in prepared baking dish.
Combine marmalade and water; then pour over top of chicken drummettes. Bake in preheated 350º F. oven for 30 minutes or until chicken is tender. Note:- Drummettes are wings with the tips cut off. Then you cut the cartilage around the bones at the joint end. Push the meat from the joint end of the bone to the other end.
- Freeze the wings tips to use later in making chicken broth.
Calorie-Counter Tip:- Remove and discard skin.
- Omit the browning in margarine or butter. Place in oven hot oven for 15 minutes. Pour sauce over chicken and bake another 20 minutes to 30 minutes.
