Perfect Burgers and Variations

Making the perfect burger ground beef recipe is as easy as 1,2,3.
It is an easy way of serving nutritious food to your family.
Basic Hamburger Mixture
- Season 1 lb (500 g) Lean or Medium Ground Beef and combine with beaten egg and ½ cup (50 ml) bread crumbs or oatmeal.
- Shape into 4 - 6 (¾ in./2 cm thick) evenly shaped flat patties.
- Barbeque or pan fry until centers are no longer pink, turning once - about 5 minutes per side. Well done burgers are brown throughout and juices show no pink.
Seasoning Variations:
Try adding one of these spices combos to your basic mixture.- 2 chopped green onions
1 teaspoon (5 ml) ginger and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce - 1 teaspoon (5 ml) each of oregano and basil
- 1 small chopped onion
1 teaspoon (5 ml) each of chili powder and dried mustard - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¾ teaspoon seasoned salt ½ teaspoon dry mustard ¼ teaspoon pepper
Be creative and go beyond the basic bun:
Try some specialty bread or rolls such as herb, sun-dried tomato.

Tips for Juicier Burgers:
Handle gently to keep in the moisture
Do not flatten patties during cooking and turn only once.
Chill 2 hours before cooking and patties will hold together better.
Tips for Low Fat Burgers:
Replace whole egg with 2 tablespoons of egg whites
