Two Tantalizing Appetizer Recipes
Your guests will dive into these party spread recipes. With the tantalizing taste of seafood and just the recipe flavours, these appetizers are tempting. 1 (4 oz./112 g) can crab meat with juice ½ cup (125 ml) cream cheese, slightly softened 1 green onion ¼ teaspoon (1.5ml) garlic salt ¼ teaspoon (1.5ml) chili powder salt and pepper, to taste
Mix ingredients in a bowl. Serve chilled with crackers or bite-size pieces of bread.
This party spread recipe adds a different twist to the previous one.2 (8 oz. (225 g) pkg cream cheese 1 can (227 g) crab meat ¼ cup (60 ml) chopped green onion ½ cup (125 ml) chopped bacon (bits) 1 cup (250 ml) mayonnaise 1½ cup (375 ml) cheddar cheese grated (save ½ cup (125 ml))2 teaspoons (10 ml) dill weed
Cream mayonnaise and cream cheese together and add remaining ingredients (except ½ cup (125 ml) cheese).
Place in hollowed out French or Pumpernickel loaf.
Top with ½ cup (125 ml) cheese. Wrap whole thing in foil and bake for 2 hours at 350ºF/175º C.
Open foil a bit as soon as you can get it out of the oven to let steam escape.
Serve with bread pieces or crackers. This will make enough for 2 Pumpernickel loafs, if you want to make one and freeze ½ of mixture. It freezes well
