Spinach Dip

The Well-known Appetizer

It can be party fare or any day snacking.

There are many variations but this Spinach Dip recipe is the one I have used and enjoyed the most.

Classic Spinach Dip

  • ½ cup (125 ml) salad dressing or mayonnaise
  • 2 (250 g.) pkgs. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • ½ cup (125 ml) chopped, fried bacon, six slices
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) dill weed
  • ¼ teaspoon (1.5ml) Garlic powder (or one clove, minced)

Beat salad dressing and cream cheese together in small bowl until smooth.

Stir in next four ingredients.

Variation: cut top of a round bread loaf and hollow out, leaving shell about one inch thick.

Reserve removed bread for dipping. Pour spinach mixture into the hollow and wrap in foil.

Heat in 325º F./165º C. oven for two hours.
Remove from oven and turn back the foil.

Serve with bread pieces taken from loaf to use as dippers. As the dip gets eaten up, break off sides for dippers.
