Russian Taffy Candy Recipe¾ cup (180 ml) white sugar ¾ cup (180 ml) butter or margarine ½ cup (125 ml) golden syrup ½ cup (125 ml) cream 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla
Put butter in large frying pan and when melted add the other ingredients. Bring to a boil and continue cooking to hard crack stage (300º F./149º C. on candy thermometer) or until a few drops in cold water separate into hard, brittle threads. The taffy must be stirred often as it burns quickly if left to itself. Pour into a well greased baking sheet. When it begins to set, mark into squares, afterwards cutting or breaking into pieces.
